I don’t know how nora Roberts does it every year we get 2 eve dallas books a romantic suspense novel and a mini series, but the quality never drops, the detail she goes into in these books also shows the meticulous research she must do into other careers, the heroine in this book is a professional house sitter, the hero an artist nora does love her artists the characterisations and the details in her books are engrossing, it’s almost impossible to find a place to put the book down.

Long may she continue writing. This is Nora Roberts at her best. Likeable characters who come alive off the page, an engaging storyline that hooks from the first page and seamless wonderful storytelling.

I appreciate an author who can have me perched on the edge of my seat one moment, then smiling at the next and this story does not disappoint. I didn’t want it to finish.

We are all going to have our favourite Nora Roberts books and this, for me personally, is one of her best along with Rivers End, Black Hills and The Witness. This was great – another example of the brilliant Nora Roberts.

I have traditionally stuck with her romances, but in this one the murder, mystery, suspense thriller was excellent – and mixed in with the two leads who ultimately fall for each other, whilst trying to protect themselves from a vicious killer intent on revenge, was excellent.

Definitely one to read! Another great novel from Nora and I enjoyed every moment of it! I can never get enough of her skill or imagination. Report abuse. The other characters–Lila, Julie, and Luke–are actually lovely and I stuck it out to find out what happens to them.

However, the story just didn’t come together well. Julie and Luke sort of disappear about two-thirds of the way in to the story. Then the story just The Collector, sadly, is a one-timer. I love Nora Roberts, but this one was a bore. I didn’t like the storyline with the egg and Russia.

It just wasn’t interesting. I love Julie Whelan, her character voices are great. I was looking forward to the book because of her and was hoping it was as good as The Witness, which I think is the last well-written book by Nora.

The Collector was not one of my favorites, but I will always come back to Nora Roberts. Comparing this to another book by the writer, The Witness, you would not think it was written by the same person??? Alas, it was not meant to be.

However, it did meet the parameters of her chick lit books, of which there are many. I doubt if I will try another. It would have to have fantastic write-ups for me to put my toe into the water again.

As for Julia Whelan. I’m not sure whether it was the annoying characters or whether she gave them annoying voices but right from the start it irritated me. I think I would have to listen to a decent size sample of her performing another book before I would jump into the water with Julia again, as well.

Has The Collector turned you off from other books in this genre? Perhaps, the ‘romance’ should be in emboldened typeface. The characters dialogue tainted her performance for me. I’ll give her a second chance. If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Collector? Any additional comments? However, if you enjoy happily every after romantic clap trap you will enjoy this book. What made the experience of listening to The Collector the most enjoyable?

I couldn’t stop listening, waiting to find out how things would pan out. What other book might you compare The Collector to, and why? Thats a difficult question to answer as I have very poor memory and listen to so many books but The French Gardener by Santi Montefore has always come up in my top 5 list.

Cant fault it. If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be? Gripping, romantic but with an edge. Thoroughly enjoyed this and it took me away from my own thoughts and troubles. Now want to read another but not sure what to go for next. Love you Audible you are the best and I think you deserve to remain the best. Thank You x Kim Holmes.

There’s a great saying for something that is rubbish, ” a pile of mince”. Sorry Mrs Roberts, I used to like your books which is why I keep buying them, but you’ve lost your way a bit with this one. There are no redeeming qualities to the main characters and to be honest, I wasn’t that bothered what happened to them once it was obvious an assassin was trailing them!

I bought this without researching it What I got was, I believe, chick lit. If you like 2 syllable words, 4 inch heels, lippy, romance, a tall handsome stranger now that’s original , predictable story-lines then you’ll enjoy this. If you like a challenging read, mind stretching novels written for adults then I’d give this one a miss. However, as a chronic insomniac, I can recommend as it sent me to sleep very quickly.

Nora Roberts at her best. The story has romance, twists and turns to the crime element and the insight into the characters themselves. What would have made The Collector better? Would you ever listen to anything by Nora Roberts again? What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment? I love Nora Roberts – but this was just awful, and boring. A woman about her age wore a little black dress that fit her tall, model-thin body like a second skin.

She paced as she talked on her cell phone. Broken date. He has to work late—he says, Lila added, winding the plot in her head. A couple floors above, two couples sat in a living room—art-covered walls, sleek, contemporary furnishings—and laughed over what looked like martinis. Another window opened the world to a little boy rolling around on the floor with a white puppy.
