Just purchased a SurfacePro 4. My company runs an Access database that requires Office Professional. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. I visited the download site to see if I’d have more success with an online download, but I receive this message, “The Office Product Key provided represents a product which is not eligible for free download. Please re-enter your Product Key and try again, or check the list of eligible products.

I think the product key is fine disk came in a sealed box, new. I’ve tried running a clean boot but I still can’t get the setup to execute. When the install page appears, I have crossed out the OneNote option so that it doesn’t try to overwrite it.

Once I press the install button, it gives me the error message above where the setup has stopped working. I tried to uninstall OneNote, but it does not give me the option to do that; it is greyed-out. PS I have an Access db originally written under Office , with much vba, which I have used on all flavors of Office up to Okay, so I returned the version of Pro Plus and downloaded a standard version of Pro.

I go through the setup process and get to a point where is asks to validate the product key. I enter in my product key, which it validates, I accept the license terms, choose the customized installation and x-out OneNote. Then it goes back to the Installation Progress screen again, where it gets hung up again, and gives me the same error message that I started with above: “Microsoft Office Professional Setup has stopped working.

I was getting can’t find installation file errors and, when I fixed those, configuration or installation failed and then license not recognised. The good news is that I think that I have finally managed it. It was when searching the support help files that I tried Virtual Agent in desperation. When that failed to find an answer, I was offered a personal support agent.

The first support agent tried all the standard stuff that I had tried. We tried repair from a fresh download installation programme, then removal via control panel, then removal via Microsoft clean removal tool, then install, then failure and repeat At one point, the agent said that he needed to reboot, so save a link to allow me to reconnect after rebooting.

Good to hear that your problem has been resolved. Tech support actually downloaded installation files etc when in remote control of my PC. However, they continually failed to get any further than I had.
