If yes run the fixit and uninstall all the Office installation. Try to install. If the issue persists, copy the content of the disc to the local hard drive on a disc and run the setup from the copied destination and check if it works.

I have been trying to reinstall my Office Home and Student , as purchased with the Dell, the CD having never been used before. Whenever I try to install, the installer stops partway, saying “Microsoft Office Home and Student encountered an error during setup” and only leaving me with the option of closing the window. The Windows Office folder does not appear in the start menu or the Program Files directory, so I am sure the installation is not completing.
On searching for the error and solutions online, there are numerous errors of this nature, but very few solutions – particularly as in my case, there is no error code number.
