If you don’t already have this program, download it for free at Adobe Reader. The course materials, assignments, and quizzes use Adobe Photoshop CC. The current version is Photoshop CC version I do not recommend or support the use of Photoshop CS6 or earlier versions since it may result in you having painful hair loss.

If you have a Photoshop CC subscription, but it is not version It downloads from their server to your computer and only works while your subscription is active. Unless specified otherwise, all the CC options require a one-year commitment.

Photoshop does not run well or at all on older computers. Alternately, as an SRJC student, you may use our computer labs at either the Santa Rosa or Petaluma campuses to do your homework, but the hours are limited and this option is usually inconvenient for an online student.

If you decide to discontinue this course, it is your responsibility to officially drop it to avoid missing the deadline for a refund, a ‘W’ withdrew , or a grade. Students who do not complete one of the graded assignments by June 29 will be dropped from the class. Also, please contact me if you need to miss the deadlines for more than one module in a row.

With a grade of ‘C’ or better, you will get ‘P’; otherwise, you will get ‘NP’. Each module contains a list of activities that you should complete. The graded activities consist of the Guided Exercises from the textbook, projects, discussions, and quizzes. Since this course is delivered in half the time of a normal semester, most students will need to spend 6 to 12 hours per week to complete these assignments not including other reading, watching videos, and studying time.

As you work on the Guided Exercises, be sure to understand why each tool or command is used. Most assignment submissions are image files.

Be sure that each one has the specified pixel dimensions and file size, usually under or KB. By doing so, the image will have enough detail that I can evaluate it properly and yet not take up too much room on the school server. Before the due date, it’s okay to re-submit an improved version of a file that was already submitted. Really great for social media, playing on and on. You’ll learn how to master 3D in Photoshop. We’ll finish off the course with professional, reusable mock-up techniques and shortcuts.

Now this course has a really strong focus on work flow. We’re going to use practical real world projects, to learn the tips, techniques, the shortcuts, that really shave hours out of your Photoshop day.

Duo Tones, Glitches. Orange and Dual color grading, Double exposures, there’s loads more to it. We get Typeknit, font pairing with Typekit. Getting Photoshop to guess fonts that are being used in an image. It’s Typetastic. It’s a word. You’ll master Artboards while you’re learning, how to make easily updatable, multiple sized social media posts. There’s a big section on Advanced Retouching. Advanced Healing, Advanced Cloning and Patching, as well as face adjustments.

We’ll be a little bit more subtle than this. We’ll master teeth and eye corrections. You’ll learn how to edit videos in Photoshop. We’ll also animate static images creating these parallax videos.
