Yes, that will work. I already have Win 8. However, rebooting is a pain so a VM would make more sense. Of course the VM OS requires a license.
I don’t expect Windwos 10 would have any problem with that. I’m running X4 under windows 10 now. Corel X4 does’t work in this Windows version”. When I tried to install Corel x6 on my fresh windows 10 it installed ok, but when I tried to run it, it said I had exceeded the number of computers I could install.. So I copied my Corel directory from my old windows 7 hard drive to my new windows 10, ran it again, and it works! After that, I could use the corel menu to go to the update site, and download and run the updates!

When attempting to install CorelDraw X4 on a fresh copy of windows 10 I was greeted with the follow error message. I immediately searched online for a solution and had no luck finding one. I knew CorelDraw would run on Windows 10 because when I upgraded my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10 CorelDraw worked except for a menu color problem.
I started playing around and was able to manually install CorelDraw by copying files and registry settings from and windows 7 install to Windows 10 computer.
I found that to be a very difficult process so I kept trying and eventually found an easier way to install CorelDraw. Installing CorelDraw X4 on Windows 10 will break your start menu. See post 2 before starting. Please use this guide at your own risk! Thank You. Step 7: Go ahead a launch autorun. Step 3: Open Setup. Update: The 3 machines I tested this install on broke the start menus. I preformed a system restore to rollback before I installed CorelDraw to get up and going again. As possible solution to the star menu I copied a post from Mahogan “The solution to the Link, that JeffAllen8 posted works great!
I just tried it and CorelDraw X4 does Install, it is any easy fix too. I just did this and it broke Windows So I spent the last several hours, reformatting and reinstalling Windows 8.
I was able to find a Fix for Win 8. Open regedit. This is why MS and Corel have teamed up to give us the cute message of non-compatibility and urge you to upgrade because they fixed this “supposedly” in the newest Corel. Disclaimer: I have not tried the regedit fix directly in Win10, but it works great in Windows 8.

Menu start also is not working in other user accounts. It looks like Corel X4 installation is seriously messing up with registry and system files and it is dangerous to install. I finally figured out how to solve the problem on user accounts. Allowing only “All Application Packages” is insufficient.

I’m trying to put this on my new laptop that came with windows 10 and I’m the only user of the computer. After you install Corel Draw X4 and reboot your start menu and metro apps will be broken.
If you follow the steps mentioned by Mahogan and razorpl it should help with the problem. Do all of the steps above before you reboot to make life easier.

When I installed Windows 10, CorelDraw x4 kept working just fine! But, as it had some issues with the Undo in ‘Photio-Paint’, and with ‘Capture’, I decided to re-install it. Did you have any Windows 10 issues after installing x4 back in Windows 10? In this corel draw x4 windows 10 x4 works well on Windows corel draw x4 windows 10 as on Vista. I did not met any problem but this is not mean that corel draw x4 windows 10 exist. I can create booklets, multiple document files corel draw x4 windows 10 in Vista.

The Undo in ppx4 works but CorelCapture x4 not works on my Windows 10 installed last update. Also, CorelCapturex4 not worked well on Vista, i have tried a few times. So, i did not used. Otherwise it looks a big mess and I will absolutely not buy the new version as CorelDraw is now in the hands of money holding fat skins and that means, CorelDraw is a “living DEAD”!
