To start with, buy the best horse you can for your money. Train it in everything it is short on, I usually skip the first race to make it better, then enter the next race.
If you know what you are doing use the ctrl button to use the crop to increase the horse’s speed, but be cautious of the horse’s stress level you can win pretty easily. There is minimal grooming, you can interact with your horse and pet it or talk to it, but that’s it.
And, if your horse doesn’t like it, that can lower your relationship points. You have to use trial and error to find what your horse responds to. There are different treats you can use in the game and different interractions.
The horse also responds differently to the different types of feed. In my experience, the higher costing barns will offer you a more fair price on a trained horse. I started with a cheap horse, raced it and won, then got offered to breed. I bought the foal, sold the sire, trained the foal, got offered to breed.
I bought that foal, sold that sire, and so on. I have a pretty nice looking horse now, and haven’t bought a horse except a foal I have bred. This really is a kid’s game. My kids love it, and have fun. A fun aspect is if you have more than one profile, all the horses records show against each other, so if you have a friend or sibling playing on your computer, you can try to beat each other’s records.
